As you can read in the comic above, Jeremy was still in Mexico all last week, meaning it was up to me to slap a cheap comic up to keep the RSS goblins fed.
Have a good week, folks, and we’ll see you again Friday.
Inglorious Hipsters is A web comic by Jeremy Die & Gregg Beever
I often get a little stressed about posting Dead-Beef comics. Most of my concerns amount to “god we were so juveniel,” which is probably dumb considering the content of our current comic. But Dead-Beef, like Inglorious Hipsters, has a lot of loosely connected comics, which creates a second concern that a lot of these comics don’t make a ton of sense if you haven’t read previous installments. Considering our small audience my worries probably aren’t really warranted, but as a creator you always want your work to be understood, even if it’s just a bunch of dick jokes you wrote 10 years ago.
Speaking of being a creator, the Yeggies wrapped up their nomination period yesterday with over 200 nodes for an Edmonton new media award. I must admit, when I first heard about the Yeggies my initial reaction was a cynical one. Who cares about a bunch of asshats in Edmonton with Tumblr or WordPress accounts posting pictures of their food and/or cats?
To be fair, being cynical is my default reaction to everything. Once I thought about it I realized that there are a lot of people in our city doing really cool things. Edmontonians are podcasting, blogging about social issues and comics, or providing a genuine news service. So hats off to Adam Rozenhart and company for spear-heading an effort to recognized new media talent in Edmonton.
That’s all I’ve got for you today, see you Monday!
One of the disadvantages for most of us small-time web comics is that comics are a labour of love we work on in our spare time. So when life happens the comic instantly comes off the priority list.
The bad news is, dear reader, Inglorious Hipsters will be taking an unscheduled hiatus. While we can’t tell you exactly when we’ll be back, we hope it will be very soon.
The good news is that, while we won’t be publishing new comics, we will still be posting our other regularly scheduled content. The podcast will be up February 14th as promised and, of course, Dead-Beef will continue to be re-published every Friday.
If any of you go-getter fans are artistically inclined, we would happily welcome guest comics while we’re on hiatus.
Thanks for your patience, see you soon.
Gregg & Jeremy
We all want to be healthy, right? Once you get into your 30s looking after your body becomes a constant struggle. Personally, I gain and lose the same 3 pounds every week. I eat like a champ during the week then eat like Chris Farley and Rita McNeal had a baby on the weekend.
Truthfully, I’m always one bad decision away from becoming Matthew Perry. Remember when he got really fat that one season?
Why am I talking about this? Well, our good friend Jessica over at 5k365.com wrote a wonderfully honest article about getting healthy. It’s a great read and I highly recommend checking it out, particularly if, like me, you struggle with keeping yourself in shape.
Here’s your weekly dose of Dead-Beef. See you next week!
